U11’s (Girls & Boys)

Welcome to Huddersfield Laund Hill RUFC’s U11’s Minis Team.

The U11’s is the last year of your child’s ‘Mini’s’  journey with Girls & Boys being able to play in the same team. Next season they will ‘graduate’ to an U12 Junior player with separate Girl & Boys teams & with rugby being a sport for all ages & abilities, whatever your child’s ability, we welcome everyone wanting to get involved in this great team sport.

Rugby helps develop many skills they will carry forward through life & our ambition is to encourage all our young players to grow in their rugby journey with our Huddersfield Laund Hill RUFC family. Whether you are just joining us or have moved up from the previous Age group, we want all our players to have the same opportunity & inclusion & one step towards this is the development of our Boot Bank.  This has been set up to help remove any barriers form players take part as playing rugby here on the ‘Hill is all about everyone being included, enjoying themselves & making new friends in the game they have chosen for hopefully many years to come.

Of course your child’s safety & wellbeing remains as important to us as it is to you. As they continue to build on the uncontested scrum, the Ruck & the Maul skills learnt last season in the U10’s, in the U11’s they will now begin to learn new skills with the introduction of the contested strike, tactical kicking  & scrum players trained in their positions. It sounds like a lot but their dedicated Coach is there to help them continue to grow in confidence & learn these new skills in a safe, enjoyable & supported environment alongside their friends & team-mates.  With a Safeguarding Officer whose priority is your child’s welfare, supported by our Safeguarding policy & Code of Conduct , your child’s experience & rugby journey here at Huddersfield Laund Hill RUFC is our highest priority.

If you are interested in coming along to join in & see what your child could be part of, our U11’s Mini’s train every Sunday from 10:30am to 12pm throughout the whole year here at the Community Club Complex. The Club is open during training for hot food and drinks (especially welcome during the colder months).

We welcome anyone dropping in to join us & have a taster training session or two but would suggest contacting Mark Breen prior to doing so to arrange meeting up with him on the day. This helps avoid any disruption & interruptions to the Training sessions & also gives you an update on whether the training is running or possibly cancelled due to arranged fixtures or tournaments or extreme weather conditions that can affect the pitch we train on.

Laund Hill Community Club. How it works part 5How Laund Hill Community Club works is not widely understood, and is frequently misrepresented. Below is the last of 5 bite-sized snippets of information designed to explain the structure. Please feel free to consult with any club Officers (see part 3) for further insight or with offers of assistance.Achievements and PlansThe Board volunteers have made Herculean efforts over the last 3 three years, following the turmoil of the previous landlord's (Huddersfield YMCA) administration and then the inflationary period post-pandemic to establish LHCC under very trying circumstances and ensure its survival for the benefit of our community.A 21 year lease is in place after long negotiation with GCT.Planning permission for the 3G pitch has been secured despite tortuous bureaucracy. This means a new revenue stream for GCT and LHCC.Application for Charitable Status has been submitted, awaiting approval by the commission. This will alleviate some financial burden for HLCC.Greater transparency and control of finances has been established with detailed monthly reporting to the board and all sections. The events team has been re-vitalised, led by Sharelle Morgan putting on a string of family attractions and increasing the footfall and awareness of HLCC and what we can offer.A “projects for profit” initiative has been introduced, with a team led by Richard Spychalski, which has been an effective vehicle to improve finances over the past year.• Further projects have been listed, but progress is constrained by lack of resource.• We need fresh volunteers prepared to take an active role in driving initiatives forward.• Ask not what your Club can do for you, ask what you can do for your Club. ...
