Good afternoon everyone and welcome to Laund Hill for our first return match of the season. Our guests are Baildon RUFC, who were the narrowest of victors in our last encounter during September.
Their officials, players and spectators are very welcome to join us for what we hope will be a keenly contested game of fast-flowing rugby.
The conditions will be challenging. After a week of prolonged rain, we are forecast a gale for the game. Wrap up warm!
Of course, the bar is a cozy refuge afterwards to enjoy food, drink and talk nonsense.
The men’s Second XV are away at Baildon. Good luck to everyone taking to the field today in Laund Hill colours.
Also welcome today are the match officials, without whom we wouldn’t be playing at all. Recently, some crowd “banter” towards the referee has become too close to the knuckle. We have all been brought up to respect the referee, and that duty extends to everyone involved in the fixture. Please refrain from raucous personal comment on the side-line, or posting negative critique on social media. This is especially important as we now have a huge influx of very young people into the club; let us set an example of which to be proud. For further guidance, we have a code of conduct:
Join us this Boxing Day starting at 12 noon for an afternoon of joy and merriment! We extend a warm invitation to you, your family, neighbours, house guests, and all to partake in the Christmas celebration with a classic 5-piece brass band. Engage in a delightful singalong from 12:45, relish the offering of savoury pie & peas and enjoy a tipple at the bar. Entry is free but you can opt to show your support by purchasing a strip of raffle tickets for a chance to win fantastic prizes! https://hlhrufc.co.uk/event/boxing-day/
